By stopping burning fossil fuels in our homes and businesses, we can cut San Rafael's carbon emissions by 25% , the single largest reduction achievable by local government action.
Requiring new buildings to be all-electric is a big step forward. But the real pay-off comes from replacing aging gas appliances in existing buildings with the next generation of energy-efficient electric appliances: Especially heat-pump water heaters and heat-pump HVAC systems (as shown) that both curb the pollution causing climate change, and also protect residents from increasingly dangerous climate impacts like heat waves and smoke events. |
