On April 28, people nearly filled the San Rafael City Council chambers to hear the two candidates for the District 1 County Supervisor’s seat address key sustainability issues. In a debate sponsored by Sustainable San Rafael, incumbent Susan Adams and her challenger, San Rafael Council member Damon Connolly, spent almost two hours responding to a range of questions on climate change, transportation, sea level rise, waste and this year’s big issues: Transit Oriented Development and Affordable Housing.
The debate was moderated by Jesse Madsen, Lead Teacher of the Marin School of Environmental Leadership at Terra Linda High School. He, the candidates and the audience kept the tone respectful throughout (unlike some meetings on these topics,) so that the candidates were able to clearly spell out the subtleties of their positions.
See for yourself.
